In 1971 Carole King released her award-winning album, ‘Tapestry’, a masterpiece of songwriting with themes of love and friendship that are still so relevant over 50 years later. Thousands of miles away, two sisters were born in Dundee. Jessa moved to Yorkshire at 18, Andrea stayed in Dundee, and although they followed very different pathways, their bond grew stronger as they each developed their creative outlets and went through life’s challenges. In 2023, Andrea published ‘Life, Love, Loss’, a moving book of poetry inspired by her life experiences, and soon after, Jessa set about putting the poems to music.
‘a tapestry of life’ is an exploration of universal themes of love and and friendship, situations and journeys, through both Carole King’s classic songs and Andrea Brown’s poems, all performed by Jessa Liversidge, known for her heartfelt and engaging storytelling, versatile and powerful vocals, and captivating live looping. The performance is a journey of well-known and loved songs such as ‘You’ve got a friend’, ‘Will you love me tomorrow?’, ‘I feel the earth move’ and ‘Natural woman’, intermingled with originals, all with identifiable themes such as ‘Sorry’, ‘The girl who wasn’t enough’, ‘Keep walking’ and ‘Crazy’.
“Jessa Liversidge’s tribute to ‘Tapestry’ is a delightful and moving experience, laced with her unique interpretation and familial connections. It’s a performance that pays homage to Carole King’s legacy while adding a personal and heartfelt touch. Intimate, fresh, engaging. Looped harmonies add a special touch to the live performance. A highly talented singer. “
