When Asha and Nell match on a dating app, mutual excitement fizzles from Willesden to Hackney. Yet the pressures that they each face are stacking up in a city whose fabric is becoming increasingly tense and frayed. Between histories of disaster dates and a backdrop of looming political disquiet, a planned IRL date leads them each to ask: is there a chance that this one might be better?

East to West explores the tension between isolation and connection experienced by young adults in today’s London, celebrating the courage it takes to step outside a comfort zone and forge meaningful bonds in a disassociated, algorithm-governed climate.
